Here is something a little different

I love a variety of things...someone I admire said, "Keep an open mind but not so open that your brains fall out". Love it! http://jimharold.com/jims-latest/ufo-videos-fact-or-fake-paranormal-report-18/

I wish I was more like Mom

Image
My mom ALWAYS looked her best. It didn't matter if we were just going to the supermarket or if she was going to a dance with my dad, she made sure she looked her best. Unfortunately, I didn't take after her. Maybe it's because I was a teen in the 70's and it was "old fashioned" to be a slave to beauty. Hell, I even went through one whole year of high school without shaving my legs, a fact that my sister never lets me forget! (I know, WHAT was I thinking???) Anyway, I used to tease my mom because every day around 4:30 p.m. she would rush to put on fresh makeup and fix her hair in anticipation of my father's arrival. Now, I see the wisdom in that. Back then, I didn't. If you've been following this blog, you know that I am going through mountains of photos and scanning my favorites. I love this photo of my mom. I don't know when it was taken, probably before she got preggers with me so let's say early 1950s? It's a great photo of a great...

As I get older...

...it's good to know I'm still a kid deep down inside! My friend, Linda, took me out for an early dinner on Saturday. We went to Johnny Reb's in Orange - one of my FAVORITE places. As we were leaving, she told them that we were celebrating my birthday. Mind you, my birthday isn't until Friday but she told them anyway. Why? Because she wanted to see me make a fool of myself in public, LOL. Here is a snippet...hope it makes you laugh! Oh hell, here's the rest of the story!!

Disneyland 5-16-10

Image
As usual, my obligatory shot of the Main Street Station so I can see what time I arrived, LOL. Sitting on the porch of City Hall, watching the "towns people"... Sorry this is so dark but I was VERY surprised to see FOUR trasnportation vehicles on Main Street at the same time. You know what that means: CROWDS! My friends and I decide to have lunch at the Carnation Cafe, which is one of my favorite places to eat at Disneyland. Something about all of these umbrellas appealed to me. Patiently waiting for my lunch. The smile belies the starving, snarling, growling bear of hunger I am hiding like the true lady that I am, LOL! I had already devoured 1/4 of the sandwich before I realized I had not taken a picture of my lunch. After lunch, we strolled over to Frontierland and while my friends shopped, I watched the band. Let's go ride the Columbia! We got there just as the ship was leaving so we waited for the next vo...

Quick Tour

I popped into the Park the other day and took many pictures. Of course, that's not unusual for me, LOL ....but I decided to post a few here. First photo is of the clock at the Main Street Station. Note what time I arrived... I decided to ride the train around the Park a couple of times. While we were at the Frontierland Station, I glanced over and noticed some new "plussing" of the area. I got a kick out of the hanging laundry. What's that? You want a closer look? OK, see the next photo! Here you go, folks, a close-up of the laundry. It's very clever if you ask me. Next, we see a shot of the keel boat that was recently added. Not a remarkable photo except....EXCEPT that I took a random shot from a moving train and didn't even realize I got the keel boat until I reviewed the photos at home, LOL ! Well, it's time to go home....how long was I there?

Comparisons

Here are two similar shots, the first taken in 2008 and the other taken yesterday afternoon. When I saw the treehouse yesterday, it seemed to me to be very overgrown but apparently, not so much. Hmmm....

Disneyland 1984

Image
I found some Disneyland pics today! Some cousins came out to vist us from Michigan so naturally we went to Disneyland. These were taken in June, 1984. I see a reoccurring theme in my pictures through the years...LOL... I love the Skyway against the Matterhorn! Here we see my son and his little cousin on a bridge at Tom Sawyer's Island. Look how crowded the Mark Twain was that day! One more thing...please spread the word about the gorgeous cat I wrote about yesterday. Thanks!

I will soon be homeless...

Hey guys, I am desperately trying to find a home for a cat. A little back story... My sister's neighbor is dying of cancer. He is in the hospital and will not be coming home. :-( My sister has been feeding the cat for several months now and has tried to find a home for the cat but hasn't had any luck. If I had a place of my own, I would adopt him immediately but I can't. I rent a room in a house and the homeowner has a large dog that hates cats. :-( I've met this cat and it is so loving. It's been an indoor cat all of its life and we think he is approximately 4-6 years old but we really don't know for sure. I will not let this cat go to the pound. He has done nothing wrong and deserves a loving home. He can't help it if his owner is dying. My sister says, "Thanks for any help.....you know, I don't even like Gatos, but I couldn't take him to the pound." PLEASE show this post to anyone who might be interested!! THANK YOU!!!

I'm a big ham at heart...

...or in other words, no Disneyland pictures today so I'm posting this shot of me in 1973 performing something from Fiddler on the Roof. (What am I singing? I can't remember Oh wait! Matchmaker, Matchmaker!) As I've mentioned before, I am in the process of scanning pictures. I have a GIANT Rubbermaid tub in the back seat of my car that is full of photo albums, and that is where it shall remain until I am done scanning. (It's too darn heavy for me to take it into the house!) So every couple of days, I grab an album as I head into the office and the one I brought in today, although quite interesting to me, has nothing really relevant for this blog and you, my loyal followers. No Disneyland pics, just random shots of me through my school years. (I gotta say, the clothes and hair make me laugh!) Enjoy this blast from my past, LOL...

Christmas 1960 something

Image
Don't know the date this photo was taken but I do know it was taken by me, a budding photographer. For Christmas that year, I received a brand new Polaroid Swinger camera and loved the instant gratification I got of seeing my pictures develop. Unfortunately, those photos don't hold up well with the passage of time. I have recently begun to scan old photos that I don't want to lose and this was one of them. This is my mom and dad posing by the horrible aluminum tree which I hated as a child. Above the fireplace is the famous peacock. I say "famous" because every time I move, my son asks me, "Mom, why do you keep this thing???" My response: "Because I love it! And because it reminds me of my childhood." Currently, the old peacock is stored away, patiently waiting for the day that I have my own place and then it will once again have a place of honor in my living room. I had to laugh the other night while I was watching the Good Wife. Lo and behold...

Wow! Wow! Wow!

Another glimpse of Tomorrowland!

Here we see that the sun is almost gone...the lights are coming on...a magical time at Disneyland, even if I say so myself! For some reason, I think I took the above picture while riding the Peoplemover but I could be mistaken. This, of course, was taken while on the Peoplemover . I've always loved the lagoon at night. It looks so cool. OK, yellow subs...must be the 1990s?? Finally the Rocket Jets which scared me to death! But they sure look good at night, huh?

I found a treasure...

Image
While searching for some family photos, I found several of Disneyland that I was overjoyed to discover because I knew I had them, I just hadn't seen them in many years. I knew I had to scan them!!! I had planned to post these last Saturday but I got sick and was out of work until today. Ya, lesson learned: Keep your Disneyland photos at home! I have several more shots that were taken on this day and I will post a few of them tomorrow. Keep in mind that these were the days before digital cameras so don't flame me if they aren't totally crisp and clear, LOL Man...I sure do miss the Peoplemover ...*heavy sigh*
