Quick detour to DCA for the 10th Aniversary
You know, there are certain things that I feel are set in stone. You stand in line and wait your turn. I was patiently waiting to board the tram while the family in front of me had to deal with some stroller issues. No biggie, I waited....when out of the blue this woman comes up from behind, pushes by me and attempts to board the tram. What the??? The row she chose was full so she shifted gears and went to another row. Again it was full. She turned back and looked at all of us staring at her in disbelief. Yup, I did it. I opened my mouth.
"You've got to be kidding me, lady!"
She glanced around and then made her way back into the line - in front of me.
"Oh HELL no!" I said as I motioned with my thumb that she needed to get behind me. She did and when the next tram came we boarded. Gee, I wonder why she didn't sit next to me? LOL...ya, that's her. Bimbo! I had to chuckle when she got stuck at the security check point. *snicker*
So I made my way to DCA, excitedly making a mental note of merchandise I "needed"....10th anniversary pin, maybe a T-shirt. Guess what? There wasn't any. I asked a castmember where the 10th anniversary merchandise could be found. Her response? "There isn't any for guests". My jaw hit the floor. Literally!
I was bummed - big time. I walked around the entire park and there was not a sign or banner to be seen. What a shame. After an hour I left!
Well, I'm sure you want to get to the pictures so here we go.
This lovely contraption is out front between the two parks.
A glimpse of some construction going on...
It was exciting to get such a good view of the bulldozer!
A very cool sign showing you what you'll see as you enter Carsland.
Inside the Blue Sky Cellar...
I'd love to get my hands on one of these!
I don't believe I've ever seen their menu posted.
The Little Mermaid building has come a long way.
Look! Trees in Carsland!
Hmmmm, don't know what they're doing here.
Another view of the Little Mermaid building.
Pretty flowers...
Grizzly River Rapids is filled with water once again.
They don't know what they're in for...
You should have heard the screams!
More cool flowers.
By this time, I decided to leave the park. I went to the top of the parking structure to take a few shots of the backstage area.
That's it! Tomorrow we continue with our island exploration.
Comments
Thanks for the shots from the parking structure.
Strange that they didn't even have a little ceremony or anything; guess they want to wait until the major construction is done.
Well, if I had gotten my act together and gone earlier yesterday, I may have run into you since I seemed to go to all the same places that you did! I even took a photo of that pretty purple/pink Magnolia tree in the Grizzly River area (but didn't post it) Your trip report was much more thorough....and I like your backstage photos! Did you know there is a Storybook Land Canal boat visible in each of them (in almost the dead center of that last photo)?
