Dinner at the Carthay Circle!
Before we begin, I would like to bring your attention to a new online store. This store is very special to me because it was started by people that rescued two cats that were "different", labeled unadoptable by most shelters but luckily they landed in shelters that do not see them as damaged goods.
Whether you have a cat or not, I'm sure you know someone who does have one so you can pass this blog post on to them. Here is the link for the store named after Oskar and Klaus. Their stuff is adorable and the T-shirts for humans are cute, too! And the best part? They are donating a substantial amount to cat shelters!
Woohoo! I had originally planned on celebrating here once I found a job but my friends from Florida were in town and "forced" me to have dinner with them. It would have been extremely rude of me not to join them, right? RIGHT???
So, upon being seated, we all had these unusually shaped charger plates in front of us on the table. I spent at least 12 minutes trying to figure out how to stuff it into my purse, yes, I did.
There were two of these "candlesticks" on the table....
On a ledge near our table, you could see several glasses. Water or wine, which is it?
Looking up, I admired the gorgeous ceiling....
Then our waiter pointed out that the mural is a scene from Snow White so of course I had to take another photo, this time zoomed in.
This is the menu.
You can tell that I'd rather be somewhere else, like Pizza Port.
Nice sconces.
Nice everything!
Our appetizers...Gorditas with portabello mushrooms, cheese and some sort of poblano sauce. VERY GOOD!
Naturally I had to order the lest expensive item on the menu and I must admit, I had my doubts about chicken meatballs but they were DELICIOUS. Spicy!!!! Yes, I would order it again!
The wine list is quite comprehensive. I really wanted a glass of wine but had to decline: $$$!
Peter ordered dessert and the three of us shared it. I can't remember what it was but it was stuffed with bananas and fried. And it was GOOD.
As we were leaving, I heard a familiar voice. My buddy Pete (different Pete) was having dinner with ALICE DAVIS! And the best part? I was introduced to her and she said I could take her picture! Ya, ya, I know, I should have had a picture taken of ME and Alice but I was too thrilled to think clearly, LOL!
It's not something you can do often (unless you earn BIG BUCKS) but I highly recommend having lunch or dinner at the Carthay Circle. It is awesome.
