Route 62 Window Shopping

Image
After we ate at the Route 62 Diner, we had to walk off out lunch so we stopped at an interesting shop that was part thrift shop and part artistic showplace. Right off the bat, I was intrigued by the eclectic collection of items! These yard art cactus "plants" are very cool. They had plenty of vintage fashions. And look what somebody did with old license plates. You could even custom order them! I fell in love with this little guy! OK fans of retro - What's in the box? Behold! A fancy desk phone! This actually had me transfixed - I stood and stared at it for almost five full minutes. The details were intriguing.   There are some very talented people in this world. I love all of this odd metal work. Who painted me??? Wait til you see this! These were from the late 30s early 40...toy kitchen items made of wood! BEAUTIFUL! That wraps up my trip to the desert. Hope you enjoyed it!

Route 62

Yes, Virginia, there is a Route 62. After we left Pioneer Town, we were mighty hungry so we decided to stop at a diner we had seen earlier when we first started our adventure. The Route 62 Diner, to be exact. Unfortunately, they don't have a website but I can tell you that I did enjoy my lunch and if I am ever in the area again, I would eat there. The decor is your "classic" 50's style...the coolest thing for me were all the old 45 records on the wall. We got there after the lunch crowd so we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Here's my sandwich and looking at it now, I want one. Come back tomorrow and you'll see the cool shop we explored.

Pioneer Town

This post is a continuation of a little trip I blogged about back in February . My friends and I visited Amboy and on our way back to Palm Desert, we stopped at a place called  Pioneer Town . I had never heard of but it's there and it's cool. Not much was going on the day we stopped in but that's OK - I liked having the entire town all to myself! There are a few souvenir shops to browse in... And several spots for photo ops... And little critters that follow you! I think we were there a total of 45 minutes and I'd like to go back in the Spring when there is more going on. The road to and from was pretty cool, too. I just love these old two lane roads.

Disneyland February 2006

Image
A few shots from my late afternoon/evening visit to Disneyland back in February 2006. When I lived in Irvine it was easy to run down to the Park after work. I stopped and admired the Opera House for quite a while after taking this photo. It looks so pretty in the sunlight.  Yes, Virginia, Disneyland has flowers in February! WHAT? Only one solitary stroller??????????? I must be in the Twilight Zone. The last of the sun hitting the Big Thunder peaks before it sets. Somewhere, I have a similar shot showing the moon in the night sky.

Hyperion Chicken?

Two random pics from 2006, taken the same day. First a giant Chicken Little at DCA, promoting the movie, I'm sure. Later that night, a nice look at the Hyperion.
