Getting evacuated from the PeopleMover

As evacuations go, it was pretty run of the mill. Except for the fact that I am afraid of heights...

If you look at the photo below, you can see the light blue cars of the PeopleMover as they are approaching the America Sings building. Right by the trees...Go on, take a good look.

That's where it stopped. STOPPED. A castmember came along and informed us that he would open our doors one car at a time and we would have to follow him up the track to an emergency exit. I sat there thinking, "You've got to be kidding me!!" I told the castmember that I was afraid of heights and he very calmly assured me that everything would be alright. I took his hand and stepped out of the vehicle. I was shaking like a leaf. He told me he had to go and attend to the guests in the next vehicle, then let go of my hand. I looked up the track to a previously unnoticed door and told myself, "You can do this" but I wasn't convinced!

I don't know how long I stood there but suddenly realized that there were other guests standing on the track waiting for me to move. UGH!!! I slowly started scooting along and my face must have given away my terror because the guest behind me kindly offered words of encouragement, "Go on, hon, you can do it..."

There was NOTHING to hold on to as I slowly made my way along the track, pressing my backside against the PeopleMover cars to reassure myself that I would not fall. It seems like an eternity has passed by the time I got to a door with the EXIT sign. Once inside the building, I could barely go down the stairs because my leg muscles had literally frozen up from fear. It took me a long, long time to recover. I vaguely remember sitting in Tomorrowland, nursing a Coke for over an hour. Whew!

Did that stop me from riding the PeopleMover again? Oh hell no, LOL!

I did the CHOC Walk Part Seven

Thanks for sticking with me on this CHOC Walk Tour!
This will be the last post so get comfortable and enjoy the tour.

Walking into DCA we are greeted by ElecTRONical People!
I'm anxious to see the movie but I don't get these guys....guess I have to wait until the movie comes out.

Here is Flick and Princess Atta with a very happy guest!

Now this caught my eye...it's a switch/signal for the new cable cars! I don't know what it's really called but I do know it's a train thing, LOL! Guess where we go next? Backstage!

I am assuming that this construction stuff is related to Carlsland
because it is right next to....

THIS!  Can you make out what it is??? You can barely see through this covered fence at the Carsland construction. Talk about a teaser! We leave the backstage area and end up in Bug's Land...

Look closely...there are berries of some kind growing here.
Hmm, I hear an engine roaring...

It's Lightening McQueen and his groupie!

Mater has one, too!

Smile for the camera!

Ever wonder what the backside of Mater looks like?

Here we see Jack-Jack doing his thing!

Mr. and Mrs. Incredible pose with guests.

While Myrna is taking a pictures of the Incredibles....

I zoom over to the group of people that
are waaaay ahead of us on this walk.

LOOK! They've got the lights and fountains running!

Here's a short video I shot.

Next we get to meet Duffy, Mickey's bear.

We've left Duffy and are now in the Paradise Pier area.

Looking back at all the people behind us...

I'm so glad that the construction walls are decorated.

Here we see Luke receiving his diploma from Goofy's Sky School.

We keep walking, walking, walking and finally exit DCA and then walk up through Downtown Disney towards the finish line.

I am very tempted to treat myself to some new artwork!

After the walk, I drove to Knott's Berry Farm for breakfast! First I got to enjoy some biscuits and gravy. YUM!

Then Chicken Fried Steak, two eggs over easy and crispy hash browns.
Double YUM! No, I couldn't eat it all after gorging on biscuits, so I took it home for dinner, LOL!

It was a great day - lots of fun and I encourage all of you to do the walk next year if you can!

By golly, I just found out from one of my readers that the train crossing sign / contraption is called a WIGWAG. I love it!

I did the CHOC Walk Part Six

We made out way back towards Main Street...

You can barely see people behind Minnie that are barely starting their walk!
You can see how wet the ground is.  I kept slipping!

Ooh! Once again we go backstage...

This area is very familiar to me since this was the route
I took to go "on stage".

Passing the "In-Between"...

I've been in this storage unit...it's where cups, napkins
and the like are stored.
Hello, Disneyland Fire Department!

We've left Disneyland and now heading towards DCA! More tomorrow!

I did the CHOC Walk Part Five

After getting my picture taken with the train engineer, it's time to leave the backstage area.

To give you an idea of where we are, Small World is to the right.

Hmmm...a street sign.

Checking out the Monorail track...

I put my hand through a fence to get a shot of this location.

We've left the backstage area are are back in Fantasyland. I always stop and look for ghosts of the boats that used to sail here!

In Tomorrowland, we run into Buzz and some space groupies!

Luke strikes a pose with his buddy, Buzz.

We'll continue our CHOC Walk tour later!

I did the CHOC Walk Part Four

Today our tour continues as we walk through Fantasyland and make our way towards ToonTown.

Gosh, soooo many people. Isn't it great?

Wow, lookie here! Clarabell Cow and Horace Horsecollar!

The excitement mounts as we are allowed to go backstage. I got to tour this area during my orientation but alas, was not allowed to take pictures...now I'm gonna take full advantage!
I love these doors.
As you can see, we are behind ToonTown now.

Some boats from Small World...

Hmmm...I have no idea!

I noticed the number 55....it was a very good year since that's when Disneyland and I were born!

The Roundhouse!!

Some castmembers were watching us, LOL.

The trains stored in the Roundhouse.

Behind the scenes stuff one rarely gets to see.

Much to my surprise (and delight) they had an engine out for photo ops.

Will end today's post with this horrible picture of me and the Engineer.
