Escape to the Disneyland Resort

One day last week, my son called and asked if I wanted to go to Disneyland with him. Do bears s&%t in the woods? Of course I said yes!

Our first stop was for a Dole Whip. It was so darn hot that I wilted, yes I did. So did the Dole Whip! We walked over to Big Thunder Ranch and my son said, "I've never been in there."

"WHAT?? Well, let's go!"  He enjoyed all the animals and when I saw this goat I said, "Buddy, I know how you feel".

Next stop (after washing our hands, of course) was Space Mountain.

Upon leaving Space Mountain, we came up on a couple of Storm Troopers. I talked Mick into posing with them.

We decided to get an early dinner and when I saw pot roast on the menu of the Plaza Inn, we walked in a grabbed some grub. I liked the way the sunlight looked coming in through the windows.

After dinner we decided to go to DCA but we stopped to watch the parade.

Some advice: Do NOT stand in front of the hat store on Main Street to watch the parade. Why? Because that's where one song ends and another begins. It took several minutes of confusion to realize that's what was happening and why I didn't recognize any of the music!

Oh, I just decided to look up at the windows...

Our next stop was at Muppet Vision...and the show was great, as always.

Will try to post something interesting soon!

Old Houses

I love, love, love old houses. There are a couple that are empty in downtown Riverside. We pass by those houses often and I look at them wistfully. About a month ago, I noticed dozens and dozens of irises in the front yard of one of the houses. I stopped the car and got out. At first, I just wanted to take pictures of these beauties to preserve them forever on my backup drive and also to pay my respect for the grandeur they once displayed.

I think this originally was a 2 family dwelling because there is an entrance here and one on the other side, which we will see in a bit.

Now I've gone to the other side...poor stairs, they've seen better days.

I braved the stairs to go on to the wrap around porch. I had noticed a curved window and wanted some of the details.

Sadly, you don't see stuff like this any more.

This is the other door.

This is yet a third entrance at the back end of the house. Servant's quarters, maybe?

I walked around to the back and noticed that one of the original iron grills was still in place.

Then we went next door to help ourselves to some of those iris bulbs. Hey, the place is abandoned and nobody is taking care of the garden anyway. What the heck.

I got so involved pulling up irises then realized I had not taken pictures of the house.

I started pulling up irises again and forgot all about taking pictures of the house. Talk about short attention span!! After a while, I went around to the backyard and found a fig tree. Man, I love figs!

The same fig tree...

Guess what? There were MORE irises in the backyard!

This is another entrance to the same house. Sorry to scare y'all but whenever I get the chance, I have my picture taken with old houses. I like to pretend they are mine, LOL.

Looking up...

The other day, we drove by the these rose bushes were FULL of blooms. The house was supposed to be moved by the city but it's been years and sadly, nothing has happened.

Peeking through the fence at the backyard.

Well, that's it for now, folks.

The Evil Queen

One night, about 2 weeks ago, I needed a little dose of Disney and made a quick trip to Downtown Disney. While I was there, I saw some very cool Evil Queen merchandise which I will share with you now.

That's it for now!

Awesome Baby Bears

I know it's been a while since I've posted and I apologize. I've been a bit bummed out lately. Not being able to go anywhere really puts a crimp in things. I depended on my little excursions for interesting photos and tidbits to blog about. How I wish THAT could be my job!! It saddens me to say that I will only be blogging once a week, at least for a little while. You would think that being unemployed I'd be going to Disneyland every day, right? Ya but unfortunately, it's either put gas in the car or pay a bill. NOT fun. So I leave you with these adorable bears....watch and enjoy!

Good Old Betty White!

I have yet to meet someone that doesn't like Betty White. Her comedic timing in awesome! That being said, I thought I'd share this little gem that I found. (Morgan Freeman, rocks too!)

Cute Mickey Shirt

I apologize for the lack of posts lately - a lot has been going on which has left me with little time for fun. Last night I finally just got in the car and took off - I ended up at Downtown Disney and did some window shopping. I fell in love with this adorable T-shirt. The vintage graphic is awesome! I am hoping to go to Disneyland soon so hang in there, OK?

Magnolia Bird Farm

What? A bird farm? Well, technically, it's a store for people who have birds, buy birds, etc. It's not too far from the house and I've driven by it for years (Do you see a recurring theme here?) so my friend and I decided to pop in. Actually, it was while we were on our way home from The Avocado House...Imagine my surprise to see reptiles there!

Here's looking at you, kid. As my mom used to say, he's got the face only a mother could love. (And me...I actually like reptiles.)

I know nothing about birds, except they have pretty colors. Like this guy.

And this guy....

Oh wait, look at this guy!

Pretty cool, huh?

Yes, Virginia, there are rules.

We walked around the shop and then my throat started getting scratchy so I'm thinking I shouldn't be around so many birds, LOL.

So, if you are ever in the area and are curious, you should pop in and check out the Magnolia Bird Farm. Oh and guess what? It's been around as long as Disneyland!
