Road Trip Bonanza Part 5

You still with me? Really? Wow, you win a big prize. As soon as I figure out what, I'll send it to you.

OK, so Iowa City, Iowa is a college town that has respect for its old buildings. So I fell in love with it! Debby and I started our morning by looking for thrift shops. We went into the heart of town, parked the car and started walking around a bit. (Make sure to check out that link up there!)

Here's a neat old church...

And look at these buildings!

While Debby was in the shops, I kept looking at the buildings, LOL.

Isn't this awesome?

We saw lots of cool vintage clothes but Debby was in the market for some furniture so we got back in the car and started looking around for more thrift shops. When I spotted this building, I nearly jumped through the windshield, LOL.

1:49 p.m.
Then, a few minutes later, we stopped at this vintage Dairy Queen so I could take a picture. Isn't it neato keen?

2:50 p.m.
And then...then it was time to make a pilgrimage to one of my favorite places. Cracker Barrel!!! It was an hour away in Davenport but Debby was kind enough to take me there. (OK, so I whined and pouted and talked endlessly about how much I love Cracker Barrel...whatever...)

I had to exercise great restraint and not run to the building like a 6 year old who has just seen Mickey Mouse on Main Street...

YES!!! I'm having the chicken salad!

So while we're waiting for our food, I look around - grinning like an idiot.

Yum...fried okra and fried apples.

And here's my salad.

The end result!

4:19 p.m.
We still had some thrift shopping to do so we pulled into the Davenport Goodwill. Didn't buy anything.

4:35 p.m.
We spot the Northpark Mall.

4:38 p.m.
Sears
Debby needed a microwave so microwave shopping we go!

5:18 p.m.
Kmart
Debby needed a vacuum. We looked and looked and she bought all sorts of stuff but no vacuum. However, I did find something very CUTE!!

Let's go to Walmart! We decided to go to the Walmart in Iowa City so we hopped back on the Interstate.

6:03 p.m.
Iowa 80 Truck stop
We passed the largest truck stop in the world and were supposed to stop and look around but we ran out of time. I had seen this truck stop on the Travel Channel and hopefully someday I can go back and check it out. Here's a link for more info.

6:55 p.m.
Walmart
I'm not sure how much time we spent there but we were successful in finding a vacuum that met Debby's specifications. We (she) did quite a bit of shopping and then went home to put everything away, snack on some cookies and call it a night!
