Introducing my friends to Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar

Image
Back during the early part of August, we were experiencing triple digit weather. NOT my favorite time of year! Nevertheless, we decided to go to Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar after work one Thursday. I was surprised to learn that two of my co-workers had never been so I immediately knew that this was a rather serious situation that needed to be rectified! I got to the resort first so I booked it to Trader Sam's to be sure I could snag a table. When I got there, only two open tables were left! I was ever so grateful for the wonderful air conditioning and sat down to inspect the menu . This link takes you to the Disneyland site so there are no pictures but if you Google Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar and then click on images, you'll have a feast for the eyes. Speaking of feasts...I ordered the Shrimp Tacos and a Krakatoa Punch because I wanted the souvenir glass! Guess what? They were out of souvenir glasses. BUMMER. Oh well, the Castmember put a glowing ice cub...

Random Disneyland Hotel

Regular readers know I like unusual views of things...such as our first photo. I was waiting for a friend under the giant Sorcerer's hat on the hotel grounds and happened to look up. I liked what I saw! Still standing in the same spot, I noticed a giant star. It's amazing how you can walk by something a thousand times and not notice it until you stand still for a few minutes and just observe your surroundings. Later that evening I grabbed a quick dinner at Tongaroa Terrace. I love those sweet potato fries! And I love looking at the pool, wishing I was a hotel guest, LOL! I think the staff of The Disneyland Gazette needs to have a monthly dinner meeting here, don't you? Gotta run....see you soon!

Disneyland Hotel on New Year's Day

Image
I slept in until 9 and then got my butt out of bed to go find some coffee. Yes, you can make coffee in your room but I need creamer so I went to the hotel coffee shop near Goofy's Kitchen for my morning cup of Joe. Once there, I decided to get a mocha latte and a cinnamon bun which I shared with my friend, Janet. Once the coffee kicked in and I felt semi-human, Janet and I walked around the pool area and took some pictures for your viewing pleasure. The gates to the pools have this cool double Monorail decoration. Recognize this? This was the site of the old Dancing Waters show the hotel used to have many moons ago. If you want to see the old show, here is part 1 and part 2 . Next, we walked on over to the Frontier Tower. Another view of the cool pool sign. This might be a better look at the Monorail decoration on the gate. By this time, our two other friends were up so we inquired if the hotel could hold our bags until we left and the answer was yes. We che...

New Year's Eve and Good Riddance to 2011!

Image
Yes, I'll say it again: Good riddance to 2011! 2012 is going to be a good year for me - I can feel it. Other than the stupid cold I caught the other day, 2012 is starting off nicely. What better way to start the year than at the Disneyland Hotel? My friends and I checked into two rooms in the Adventure Tower. Just look at the gorgeous headboard! These pillows are adorable but what I REALLY liked was the little Mickey heads woven into the white fabric on the pillow shams and duvet. Here's the view from our room. These lamps are ADORABLE!! The faucet handles were...of course...Mickey shaped. And yet another Mickey lamp. Let's not forget the Mickeys in the carpet. It's now time to go outside and take some pictures! This tree was in the lobby of our building. No explanation needed... After walking around a bit, we headed on over to the hotel shop. Here are some cool New Year's pins. Looking at Tangaroa Terrace across the pool are...
