Halloween Is In The Air! Part 5

And now...a brief visit to Disneyland! I love seeing all the Fall colors in the Park, especially in the planters. Yes, I had to take advantage of this, LOL. I decided to ride the Mark Twain...It was nice to see one of the keel boats. It was also nice to see guests enjoying the island! They have added quite a few Weeping Willows along the shoreline. I think it's a nice touch. It's also a lot easier to see the Fort now. I just wish they would put roofs on the towers so that it at least looks like it used to even if we no longer have access to it. Here is a brief video of some of the noticeable changes along the river. It's been a while since I've been on the island. Seeing these stairs made me want to go back and explore it again.   Now we're chasing The Columbia, LOL!!   It was really hot and muggy so I decided to leave and relax a while in the lobby of the Grand Californian. On my way out, I c...

Tom Sawyer's Island

In recent years the island has been called Pirate's Lair. I still prefer to call it Tom Sawyer's Island. The island has been closed for some time but if all goes well it will reopen in May of 2017 at the same time the Disneyland Railroad become operational again. A part of the island will be missing - gone forever. Back in 2011 I took you on a photo tour of the island. This might be a good time to take a look back and remember how things were because we really have no idea what to expect once it reopens. My nine part series began in February of 2011 and ended in March. So many photos to share! Click here to read that first post. In the coming days I will post links to the rest of the tour because I know interest in the island is growing rapidly and to be honest, since I wasn't on Twitter back then, I didn't get to share this with so Disneyland fans worldwide, lol. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that will appreciate these photos. Have fun on the t...

Tom Sawyer's Island Part 9

After getting my fill of pirate play, I descend and walk around the base of the rock formation to find...Another cave! Yay! Stepping inside, I find this trunk. What could be inside? Gold coins? Lifetime annual passes? A fellow explorer and I go deeper into the cave... Wow...looks like somebody stashed their goodies here and then forgot about them. I think I should find my way out now. Looking up, I see this. Boy, I'd hate for that to fall on me! Ah HA! I see daylight! Once outside, I turn left and end up at the far end of the island, back at the cemetery. Since I have so few pictures of myself at Disneyland, I decided to take advantage of a trash can and the self-timer...No, I'm not chair dancing, just didn't sit down in time, LOL. Let's walk around the fort one more time before leaving... Time to walk back to the dock... Ya, I stopped to watch the Mark Twain again. ...

Who knew this photo report would be so long???? (Me, LOL) Yes, folks, I made it down. Although I'm afraid of heights, I'll need to come back - I really enjoy this place! As I make my way down the path, I stop to enjoy this little stream. These paths are so inviting! Now I"m at the bottom of the hill... But wait! I guess I'm not at the bottom! Oh! Here comes the Mark Twain again! Yes, I waited and watched her go by - it was very relaxing. I continued on a little bit and found that I was approaching the "play area" with the POC skull cage is located. I found this to be a really cool spot for people watching. OK, time to continue our exploration. What's this? Oh... You can see these folks are enjoying the pontoon bridge. Well, look at this! I have the bridge all to myself! Before crossing the bridge, I return to the trail to take a few photos... ...
