Old Houses Part 2

Last month, I posted a few photos of a couple of old houses in Riverside. We went back a couple of weeks ago to get some rose clippings so while I was there I took a few more pictures. I was admiring this iron fence...quite lovely if you ask me. This is the house next door...the one with the half round window in the front. In the backyard, there is a old fountain which was probably pretty cool in its day. Now I'm in the backyard looking at the house next door. If walls could talk, huh? Back in the front, checking out the iris plants and wondering if we should grab a few. What struck me as very odd is why would you leave drapes hanging in a house if it was going to be lifted and moved? (Which hasn't happened yet and we're wondering if it ever will.) Old Houses

I love, love, love old houses. There are a couple that are empty in downtown Riverside. We pass by those houses often and I look at them wistfully. About a month ago, I noticed dozens and dozens of irises in the front yard of one of the houses. I stopped the car and got out. At first, I just wanted to take pictures of these beauties to preserve them forever on my backup drive and also to pay my respect for the grandeur they once displayed. I think this originally was a 2 family dwelling because there is an entrance here and one on the other side, which we will see in a bit. Now I've gone to the other side...poor stairs, they've seen better days. I braved the stairs to go on to the wrap around porch. I had noticed a curved window and wanted some of the details.
