Knott's and Sam the Eagle

Image
What do Knott's Berry Farm and Sam the Eagle have in common? Nothing! But I've got two "vintage" shots to share with you today. The first one was clearly taken at Knott's Berry Farm. The back of the photo is stamped December 1979 however, our wardrobe isn't very Decemberish. Yes, that's me and my son and I am hogging that delicious pickle that is making me salivate just looking at it! Flash forward a few years and Olympic Fever has hit Los Angeles. Yes, the games were being held in L.A. and for some work related reason, I had to go to the L.A. Convention Center. While I was there, I spotted a free photo opp with Sam the Eagle. Free! So what if I was 10 minutes late getting back to work, right? Let me tell you, I'm so glad I did this. It's been a neat souvenir to have all these years. And there you have it - two totally unrelated things but nice vintage shots.

Video Friday!

We haven't had one in a while so how about a nostalgic look at toy commercials from the 1960s. Ya, I know, most of you weren't born then... Here's one about Knott's.

Christmas at Knott's

Here's a little bit of Knott's for ya.

Knott's!

Yes, it was one of those spur of the moment decisions again. I met my cousin at Knott's. While we waited for her family, we sat by the shops and enjoyed the fountain. See the Ninja camouflaged birdie? The falls near Mystery Lodge. This dryer is near the wild rapids ride. I'm surprised DCA doesn't have something like this next to Grizzly River Rapids. Let's get a bit closer to the falls at Mystery Lodge. Hello, fish! Later, my cousin and I walked through the Mineral Store. There are some stones that are autographed by celebrities. I like Guy!! And I like Donny Osmond! Now it's time to ride the stagecoach! (Which I haven't done since I was in my 20's. I hope they still don't have the same horses, LOL!) Hello boys! Now we're inside. It was a fun ride. Now we're wandering around aimlessly... Here we are on the train. When the robbers came through, they wanted to shoot me because of my purse, LOL! The Covered Wagon Amph...

More on Knott's!

One quick thing before we start. A young paramedic was savagely beaten at Dodger Stadium. Why? Because he was a Giants fan. I can't stand the Giants but I also know that no true Dodger fan would have done this. No, this was done by worthless thugs. This poor paramedic is in critical condition. Please show your support by clicking on this link and reading the blog site. Thanks.   This is a continuation of my visit to Knott's a couple of weeks ago. I saw these people and I said to myself, "Oh HELL no!" As you know, I had not been INSIDE Knott's in many, many years so all of the little details were mesmerizing to me! (I hope you are liking this as much as I am.) Pale People - that's me! Don't know that I'd want this guy filling my prescriptions. Do any of you remember going into a public restroom and seeing the old cloth towel machines? I shudder to think of it. 5 days late? Glad I'm not waiting on that one! More pics from my vi...

Knott's Again

Image
Hope you're not getting tired of this...guess what? I'm going again! I poked my camera into a window and caught these "gents" playing poker. I walked over to the jail to see if Joe was awake... He was. And he gave me some good advice. He told me to go to the saloon and catch a show. Mind you, I hadn't been to Knott's in YEARS so it took me a few minutes to find the saloon, LOL! But in the meantime, I shot pictures. Love this one! They have cool signs EVERYWHERE. Now I'm in the saloon checking things out... The show is about to start so I better go take my seat....

This is why I had to move my car!!! I decided to go INSIDE the Park! Yes, I was itching to get into Ghost Town. Here it is:  My very own annual pass! OK! Let's head on over to the main gate....where we find hoards of people! Actually, I got through the gate quickly and made a bee line for Ghost Town. Man, I had the biggest grin on my face! More pics to come soon!
