Oh so pretty!! Yesterday was the official start of the Festival of Lights. I purposely went late hoping that the crowds would be gone and I was right! I am posting this using the blogger app...keep your fingers crossed!

I got home from my wild and wooly history packed weekend a little later than expected and I didn't want to leave y'all hanging so here is a little video about the Mission Inn. Tomorrow we will be back with some interesting photos and a history lesson or two!

Riverside's Mission Inn

On Monday afternoon I got to go to the Mission Inn for lunch! While I've been by the Mission Inn recently, I had not eaten there for several years so I was excited. We parked the car and walked towards the Inn... While seated at the table, I pulled out my phone and took a couple quick snaps. If you are wondering where we ate, we chose the Mission Inn Restaurant . Yes, that's what it's called! This is for Dave...a Monte Cristo! After our meal, we decided to walk around and explore a bit. We went into the bar area and when I looked up, I saw this cool glass rotunda. Nice door! Then I went in search of President Taft's chair. When he visited, a special chair was made just for him...because of his rather large size! It looks like an ordinary chair until you sit in it. It even made me look small!! This place is just so darn gorgeous. I always enjoy walking around there and I thought you might like to see it through someone else's eyes.

Mission Inn Christmas Lights

If you've never heard of the Mission Inn, then take a peek here . It is a GORGEOUS place, full of history and down right awesome. Last night (Friday) was the lighting of the Christmas lights at the hotel. It was beautiful and very cool to see. I took a few pics as well as a short video. Before I got to the Mission Inn, I had to walk past the Courthouse. I thought it looked incredible all lit up at night so of course, I had to take a picture of it. The pedestrian mall that goes from City Hall to the Mission Inn has undergone extensive refurbishing and I think it looks pretty darn good. Now we are in position and waiting for the show to begin. And the fireworks begin! Here is the video I took....not of the whole show, just a taste. Whew, so many people! It took almost half an hour just to get a little closer to the Inn. As we were leaving, I noticed this silly "decoration". That's it for...
