Poking around DCA Part 2

Image
Yesterday we were checking out the details of Katz and Sons and now it's time to meander through yet another store. What caught my eye is that this built-in shelf unit is open! That means it's not really a true built-in but a storage area cleverly disguised as a built-in. Am I making any sense? I think I watch too much HGTV. Anyway.... On the wall there is a message board and you really should take the time to check out all of these messages! Be sure to click on the photos to enlarge them. This one made me smile....which Roy do you think they are referring to? Next we see the candy shop and it is empty. I mean empty! But wait, so is the ice cream shop! Maybe people don't want ice cream in the morning? Heck, it wasn't that early; approximately 11:00 a.m. I had to go into Elias & Company....just had to! Inside, I found a very cute Snow blouse. When you visit DCA, take time and really look at the window displays. At first, I ...

Elias and Company - Merchandise!

Image
After leaving the Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe, I stood outside for quite a while, just enjoying the wonderful music! Then I turned around towards DCA's new icon and it took my breath away. I guess you can tell by all the pictures I took, right? I wasn't content to shoot it with my camera but I used my phone, too, LOL! I glanced over at Elias & Company...it was calling to me:  Come in, come in.... So in I went! This was another OMG moment where I stood frozen and transfixed for several seconds. WOW, this merchandise is incredible! Then, when I finally got my wits about me, I started looking at the store interior. Fantastic!! The details are amazing and I know I went through it way too fast to catch everything but here is a sampling. Is it just me or does this guy remind you of The Rocketeer? Wonderful, right? The next room was very feminine in design and the merchandise wasn't too shabby either, LOL. I want this purse...

Buena Vista Street - Looking Around in Awe

Image
I continued walking down Buena Vista Street, literally making myself dizzy because my head was going up and down, side to side, trying to take it all in. Here you see the Hyperion Bridge looking really cool against the shops. Ya, I know the people are out of focus but let's be real - you're not here to see people shots, right?  LOL! The planters on Buena Vista Street are spectactular! And then there's the fountain. Wow. It reminded me of the Mullholland Fountain on Riverside Drive in style. Here's another link . And another ! The DCA fountain actually made me feel nostalgic since I grew up not too far from the Mullholland Fountain. But enough about me... Ghosts of Guests Past... At this point, the fountain is behind me and I am looking out towards the shops. It's a lousy picture since it is out of focus and yet it conveys the feeling of a busy downtown Los Angeles street. At least to me it does! I didn't realize this would turn into a his...

Quick Visit to the DL Resort Part 1

Image
That's right, I actually got some "Park time"!! The crowds were nonexistent and that made me very happy. So the first thing I did was walk over to DCA because I hadn't been there in ages . The little that I could see over the construction walls had me salivating! The Carthay Circle Theater is looking more and more gorgeous as the days go by. Here's a shot I took with my phone just so I could taunt my friends, LOL! And then, I spotted something...people! At first I thought they were very lucky "preview-type castmembers" but then realized they were the guys working on the building. Lucky dogs! Then I noticed the trees that are lining the street - nice! And then , I noticed the grates around the trees on ground level. I remember seeing those in downtown L.A. when I was a kid! Very nice details, Disney! I was happy yet sad looking up at this, knowing that there would soon be a part of the Park that I would not have a...
