Evacuated from Finding Nemo Submarine Ride at Disneyland

Image
Have you ever been evacuated from an attraction at Disneyland or DCA? It doesn't happen often but when it does, it's exciting, LOL. I saw this video on YouTube and I was taken by surprise because I had never ever heard of an evacuation from the Submarine or Finding Nemo ride. While it's not very exciting, it is interesting to see how the evacuation is done. That got me thinking about my own evacuations so I will be recording a series of stories about those evacuations on my podcast, Not Strictly Disney. The first story about the PeopleMover is out now. I hope you check it out. In the meantime, enjoy this video.

Christmastime at Disneyland

Image
NOTE: This should have posted back in December. I don't know what happened but it never posted!! Rather than delete it, I decided to go ahead and post it. Again, I know know why it never posted and I apologize because I know some of you look forward to my updates. I went to the Park about a week ago with two things in mind: I wanted to see all of the decorations, of course, but I also wanted to get some pics of me at the Park. The castle looked very festive and I couldn't wait for it to get dark so I could see it in all its glory! I got there around 1:00 pm and surprisingly, it wasn't very crowded. They had this vehicle parked in front of the castle and it made a fine photo opp! In all of my 62 years, this was the first time I ever got to sit in the driver's seat of a Disneyland vehicle! I didn't really have a plan in mind so I walked and walked and walked all over the Park. I noticed this display case as I entered a shop in Frontierland. This is ...

Oh those little details!

Image
In Fantasyland there is a shop called Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. I rarely go into this shop because let's face it, it's for little girls and I don't have one. However my friend does go shopping there quite often and the other day she noticed something quite interesting on the outside of the store. First, let's take a look at the sign out front. Notice anything interesting? No? Well, let's zoom in, shall we? Tucked under the eaves you will find some adorable little critters. I was so surprised to see these little guys! They have the cutest little faces and I find myself wondering just how long they've been there! This one makes me think of Captain Hook! So you see, folks, there is always something new to see at Disneyland; all you have to do is look! A big thank you to my friend, Mallory, for taking these pictures.

Three Fences?

Image
We've all heard about the "three fences"...an area where fences from 3 eras meet. I decided to try and find it and I actually found two spots where three distinctly different fences meet. Now I need you experts to tell me which one is the actual "three fences" spot! This is the first one I found where Fantasyland transitions into Tomorrowland. Then, I saw this. If you enlarge this, you'll see three different fences. A better view of the left side... And a better view of the right side... So Disney Scholars, I'm thinking the first shot was what I was looking for, right?

Disneyland 11-17-10 Part 6

Image
You gotta love the holidays at Disneyland - This video makes me grin like an idiot! And now.... I promised you something special....and I believe this is. At least for me it is! I took this photo by sneaking behind a souvenir cart and quickly stood at the base of the stairs to the Fantasyland Skyway station! Yes, I wanted to run up the stairs but I didn't feel like getting kicked out of the Park!  Be sure to enlarge the picture for a better look. Here my cousin and I are enjoying our "ride" on the teacups.  Now we're pretending that it's a wild ride, LOL. A quick shot of the castle as we make our way to DCA...  It's time for lunch! I must say, this chicken salad was very good. I know I posted this the other day but now you can compare the damage I did to my lunch :-) A few shots of the tree at DCA...can't decide which one I like best. Tomorrow...more to come! F...

I did the CHOC Walk Part Five

Image
After getting my picture taken with the train engineer, it's time to leave the backstage area. To give you an idea of where we are, Small World is to the right. Hmmm...a street sign. Checking out the Monorail track... I put my hand through a fence to get a shot of this location. We've left the backstage area are are back in Fantasyland. I always stop and look for ghosts of the boats that used to sail here! In Tomorrowland, we run into Buzz and some space groupies! Luke strikes a pose with his buddy, Buzz. We'll continue our CHOC Walk tour later!

I did the CHOC Walk Part Three

Image
The walk begins! I thought this sign might be of interest to some of you. You can see that it was drizzling and it continued for a while as we walked. The ground was very slippery and one poor man fell down! We circled the hub.... I glance back at my fellow Gazette mates:  Leigh, Chuck, Bill, Myrna and Luke, our fearless leader.  Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather were on hand to greet us. Fantasyland looked very inviting...but we had to walk through Frontierland first. Goofy was on hand to entertain us. Gee, no line at Big Thunder. Once in Fantasyland, we see Rapunzel and Flynn! Naturally, Luke strikes a pose! Next is a short (and not very well shot) video of the Princesses riding the Carousel. Wow, no line for Peter Pan??? Look carefully in the mirror...there's yours truly taking a picture of herself, LOL! That's it until next time!
